Drug indication:

  • Relief of mild and moderate pain.
  • Relief moderate to severe pain with opioids analgesic as adjunctive therapy.
  • Fever reduction. 
  • Muscle pain.
  • A toothache.
  • Menstruation pain
  • Backache
  • Headache

Drug Dosage

Adult and teenage over 50 kg weight:

  • 1000 mg every 6 hours(four times daily) or 650 mg every 4 hours( six times daily) without exceeding 4000 mg total dose per day, with a minimum interval of 4 hours between doses.

Adult and teenage under 50 kg weight:

  • The maximum dose is 15 mg/kg every 6 hours(four times daily) or 12.5 mg/kg every 4 hours without exceeding the maximum dose of 75 mg/kg per day, with a minimum interval of 4 hours between doses.

Children:

from 2-12 years of age: 

  • The maximum dose is 15 mg/kg every 6 hours(four times daily) or 12.5 mg/kg every 4 hours without exceeding the maximum dose of 75 mg/kg per day, with a minimum interval of 4 hours between doses.

Drug Side effeacetaminophen usually has no side effects.

The most common side effects in adult were: 

nausea, vomiting, headache, and insomnia.

The most common side effects in pediatric were: 

vomiting, constipation, pruritus, agitation, and atelectasis.

WARNINGS AND PRECAUTIONS of using paracetamol(acetaminophen):

  • Hepatic injury if administered in doses higher than the recommended dose with all administration routes and may lead to liver failure and death. Use with caution in patients with hepatic impairment, active liver disease, chronic malnutrition, severe hypovolemia, alcoholism, or severe renal disease.
  • Serious Skin Reactions is rare but may cause serious fatal skin reactions such as :
  1. Steven-Johnson Syndrome(SJS).
  2. (AGEP) Acute Generalized Exanthematout Pustulosis 
  3. Toxic Epidermal Necrolysis(TEN).
